Random team generator
For a game, classroom or group project: paste names and split people into teams or pairs. Choose the number of teams, people per team, or Pairs mode. When the numbers do not divide evenly, include everyone in balanced groups or keep a reserve for substitutes.
Examples and common questions
How do I split 13 people into 3 teams?
Choose 3 teams. Everyone included gives teams of 5, 4 and 4. Equal teams with reserve gives three teams of 4 and one substitute. Both the larger team and the substitute are chosen randomly.
Are random teams equally skilled?
Not necessarily. The draw assigns people randomly without assessing skill, age or other attributes. Equal team sizes do not guarantee equal ability.
What does people per team mean?
With everyone included, this is the maximum desired team size: people are spread across balanced groups without exceeding it. With reserve selected, full teams of the chosen size are created and remaining people become substitutes.
Can I share the result?
Yes. Copy the full text or download a square or Story image. Large results are split into pages so no names are cut off. Sending an image makes the names on it visible to others.
